Updates and Hitting the Refresh Button!

Well life has been a super crazy whirl wind! Life, traveling, more traveling, being sick off and on for over a month, family in town for Thanksgiving, and just everything! Instead of trying to catch up on everything I’m going to just hit the reset button and start adding new things! I’m switching up my Instagram accounts to add a personal account(KieranKMagana) and public one (FaithInFairyTales) so if you are a family member or friend that doesn’t want to see my other posts go ahead and request my private account! I have oh so many posts and ideas coming your way! Here are a few; tons of makeup, a fun picture project, some new workouts to include how to deal with an abdominal separation (diastasis recti), some really yummy recipes, and some super cute outfits for the kiddos! I hope you are as excited as I am! Do you have any requests? Next up! November Favorites!

Much love!
-KK
P.S. My computer has been acting like it is on its last leg. Any awesome recommendations for a new laptop? I’ve thought about going MAC but my issue with that is my husband can’t go that way and he uses my computer from time to time and I don’t want him to have to switch back and forth. Is it worth it? Thoughts?
Much love and thanks for checking in!

Post-Partum Fitness Plan - Week 1

Week 1
It is well past time to start getting serious about building my muscle back up! I used to be at the gym 5-6 days a week and absolutely loved it. I miss that. I worked out all the way through my pregnancy with Jocalyn but I had a difficult time really getting into my workouts again after I healed from the delivery. I have been off and on working out here and there ever since. I was really starting to get motivated to get my muscle back and starting working toward my fitness and body image goals about a year ago. We had been trying for another baby and when we got pregnant I didn't keep working toward my goals like I wanted to. I won’t get into all the details but I didn't work out too often throughout my pregnancy for several reasons. I really wanted to start working towards my goals again after healing from delivery. And here we are.. I am starting to heal and feel better from my delivery with Alaeyna. As much as it seems like a great idea to just get going full tilt again I know that isn't practical or smart for me right now. I want to build up to 5-6 workouts per week so that I can set myself up for success and avoid injury. I also want to give my body time to adjust so it doesn't affect my milk supply. (I am exclusively breast feeding Alaeyna and maintaining my milk for her is my number 1 priority in this fitness journey.)
I am going to start off just fitting in 1 workout a week and starting adding an extra workout to my schedule every two weeks. This sounds particularly slow.. and it is. But I figure that I can start off slow and if it is going well then I can always increase the speed depending on my results and milk supply. At this rate I will be fitting in 5-6 workouts a week 10-12 weeks from now or 2-3 months.
My goals are to; increase overall tone, work on my upper arms (damn that wiggle!), flatten my stomach, decrease the size of my waist, and I specifically really want to build the muscle back up in my legs and butt. This is a lot but you have to have big goals if you want any chance of big results. It may take time but I will get there!
I have decided to share workouts and updates on the blog to help keep myself accountable for at least 14 weeks and to help give ideas for those of you that are working on your own goals. Weight loss while exclusively breast feeding can be extremely tricky for me and I haven’t come across very many stories or suggestions for it. I’m sure they are out there but I haven’t found many. I will also posting my workouts on Instagram, Facebook, and Pintrest if you would like to follow along at any of those places.
I will be posting my workouts in three main categories; legs and butt, upper body, and cardio. I have a few other workouts in my previous posts here if you would like to check that out.
Lower body is what I want to start working on first and because they have always been my favorite workouts, we will start there! I really want to build a better booty! I was talking to my hubby about my workout ideas and he came up with this workout to help. Since I’m only working out once a week at this point the workout is a little more intense than I normally would want it to be for just getting started again. Also I will just be doing this workout with bodyweight except for the deadlifts in which I will be using a 5lb dumbbell in each hand. If you are more advanced than I am then you could certainly add weight to this workout.
Post Workout: It looked pretty straightforward but when I got done with it I definitely felt it! There were a few rough parts and I had to take extra rests to complete all the reps but it felt so good to accomplish this workout. I thought about workout out at home but instead the girls and I walked to the little fitness center instead. It was nice for them to get out and it added a 25 minute round trip walk for me. I made sure to drink an extra Nalgene of water (64oz) on the walk home and have a protein shake made with milk as soon as we arrived home.
Notes:
Please always check with your doctor when it comes to any kind of fitness or diet changes.
I am not a professional. This is simply my journey to achieve my personal fitness goals.
I welcome positive and encouraging comments. If you have any ideas, suggestions, or something that worked well for you I would love to hear them. Negative and rude remarks will be removed.

June Beauty Favorites

Mac Impassioned(Amplified Cream) - This little lippy is just such a perfect summer color! I can’t get enough of it!! It can look pretty intimidating in the tube but once you get it on it is super wearable and gorgeous. I get compliments  on this lip color every time I wear it. I also haven’t found another quite like this one, which makes me like it even more. (The pictures are not even close to doing it justice. I’m going to have to get some better pictures.)

Stila One Step CorrectPrimer - I have been using this little wonder for a few months now and I love it more and more every time I use it. I have never really been impressed by a primer before. Somehow this little magic wonder knows exactly which areas of my face need what and adjust accordingly. This not only evens out a lot of my redness, brightens, and handles any other discoloration but it really makes my foundation go on so smoothly and stay in place. It feels hydrating and nourishing without being oily or heavy feeling.  I even wear this sometimes if I’m not wearing foundation just to even out my skin. I LOVE IT!
Cover Girl LashExact Mascarain Very Black - I am thinking they are discontinuing this wonder product! It started getting hard to find in store so I have been stocking up whenever I come across it. It looks like I can still get it on Amazon though.. chalk up another win for Amazon!  I have been using this mascara for years and years and it never fails me. It is so much nicer than even high end mascaras and I don’t know how I’m going to find a replacement for it. The only mascara I’ve found that I even sort of like (drugstore and high end) is the Benefit They’re Real! Mascara. If you have any suggestions leave them in the comments below.
Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation Powder - This powder makes everything else I’ve used look like child’s play. I use it to set my foundation and it is amazing. It goes on so smoothly and you can build it up without getting any cakeyness whatsoever. My foundation shade is really difficult to match and this somehow balances most of my foundations perfectly so the color is on point. It adds just enough coverage and a beautiful finish to the skin. My other face products blend so smoothly over it. I can’t say enough good things about this little gem!
Johnson’s Baby CreamyOil Cocoa & Shea Butter - This lotion is inexpensive and it works wonders on my sensitive dry skin. I didn’t use this during my pregnancy with Alaeyna and even though I was 10 pounds smaller I got some pretty intense stretch marks. I really attribute that to the products I was using. I used so many other lotions for my belly this time around and none of them even compared. This and the mommy oil do wonders for my skin and I refuse to be without them ever again.
GlamGlow PowerMudDualCleanse Treatment - GlamGlow is my favorite when it comes to masks! As soon as this came out I had to get my hands on it.. or it on my face! Haha sorry too much? Glam Glow did not disappoint with this addition to their impressive line. I just can’t even say enough good things. My skin hasn’t felt so deeply cleaned and yet refreshed and hydrated at the same time since.. well I can’t remember when it has felt so wonderful. Sign up for their email list or follow me on Instagram for coupon codes. I usually try and post them when I get them or find one. These masks are worth every pretty penny. You can read all about it’s amazing wonderfulness on their site.
First Aid Beauty (FAB)Face Cleanser - I have very sensitive skin and have rosacea which is usually mild but can flare up in an instant. Not only does this face wash do its job well but I have noticed a huge difference in my redness and healing spots on my face. This keeps my skin clean and wonderfully calm at the same time. Bonus is that it removes eye makeup easily and thoroughly as well.
OPI I Just Can’t Cope-Acabana - So fun and summery without being the typical pink or coral color. It lasts quite a while and goes on beautifully. I love painting this color on my toes and so does Jocalyn. It seriously looks so cute on her little feet!
MAC Lipstick in Pure Heroin - Go check out the Lorde collection at MAC right now! It is only online and consists of a lipstick and eyeliner. I really like both products but especially the lip color. It is called Pure Heroin and I have only worn it once since it is summer right now but once fall rolls around I know that it is going to get a lot of use! If you want to see swatches and a comparison of Pure Heroin and Heroin check out my post here.

What were your favorites this month?

MAC Lorde Collection & Pure Heroine vs. Heronine

I simply love purple! So when I saw this collection coming out I was really excited. I am probably not going to wear it much right now in the summer but I am really looking forward to wearing it in the fall. Which speaking of I really don’t understand why MAC wouldn’t have waited to release this until the fall anyway.. but that is just me. Lorde’s signature look consists of black winged liner and a dark purple lip. The collection consists of Penultimate, a black felt tip liquid liner and a darker glossier version of their popular Heroine (Matte) lipstick called Pure Heroine (Amplified). I enjoy both products and think they were simple and well done. The liner is not super opaque and is a softer black which normally I wouldn’t like but it makes it a little easier to pull off on my fair skin. The liner has a nice fine tip for precise application, goes on easily, and most importantly doesn’t seem to bleed like other liquid and pen liners I have tried. The lipstick is beautiful and very comfortable to wear. It has a slight sheen/gloss to it with great color payoff. I already have several makeup looks in mind for this little beauty when the weather cools off. I have taken comparison pictures of Pure Heroine and Heroine for you to see the difference.

Just Keep Blending

I love makeup and I really enjoy watching beauty gurus on YouTube! My favorite person to watch is Jaclyn Hill. She is amazing, real, funny, and oh so on point. She is always talking about blending so you don’t have any harsh lines when you are applying your makeup. (If you apply makeup or at all interested in it you should definitely check out her channel!) I was watching one of her tutorials while Jocalyn was watching Finding Nemo and the following little picture popped into my head. I of course had to share!

April 2014 Favorites

This month I have been sticking to the simple things for the most part!
Note: I forgot to include the foundation and eye khol in the photo! Woops!
Bite Beauty Agave LipMask - I still can’t believe what a difference this makes for my lips. I cannot be without it! I have chronically dry peely lips and this is nothing short of magic in a tube. I put it on morning and night and have been for about 1-2 months now. You only need a tiny bit so this tube lasts for a very long time. I have only put a tiny dent in it so far. which is good because it is pricey.
First Aid Beauty FABUltra Repair Cream - Hands down the best moisturizer I’ve ever used. It helps sooth and hydrate my skin without leaving it greasy or clogging up my pores.  I’ve even used it on Jocalyn’s face and it helps heal her skin when she gets a rash or a dry patch. It is wonderful for helping to fade stretch marks and sooth stretched skin. I wish I would have thought to start using this on my belly before now.
First Aid Beauty FABFacial Radiance Polish - I use this once or twice a week or anytime my skin feels like it is starting to freak out. It leaves a good clean feeling that is difficult to describe. You can almost feel it working on any blemishes and deep down in your skin. It also leaves my face feeling nice and smooth without being shiny.
Glam Glow SumpermudClearing Treatment - This is the best face mask you will ever use.  It pulls all the nasty stuff out of your pores and oh so much more. Bonus is that you can actually see it working. Read all about it on their website here. I could seriously go on and on about this mask. I have gotten several people who aren't really into beauty products hooked on this stuff and for good reason… it is amazing. You can get a “samplesexy” trial of four of their masks or get a sample at your local Sephora. If I only could have one mask for the rest of my life this gem would be it.
TARTE MaracujaC-Brighter Eye Treatment - This eye cream is so nice for my sensitive skin and eyes. I can definitely see a difference It does exactly what it claims and I couldn’t be happier with it. “An intense, maracuja fruit- and vitamin C-infused, multitasking eye-treatment that visibly hydrates, firms, and brightens the delicate eye-area. “ - copied  from the Sephora What It Is section
Buxom Show Some SkinWeightless Skin Foundation - This foundation adds a light coverage and has pretty good staying power for a more minimal look than I normally go for. I also love that it has spf 30 in it to protect my skin. My skin is very sensitive and is especially so with sunscreen and this foundation actually leaves my skin feeling wonderful instead of gross and freaking out. (I totally forgot to include this when I was taking the picture of my favorites! Woops!)

L'Oreal Paris Voluminous SmolderingEyeliner in Brown - I like to line my upper water line with this especially when I’m in a hurry to give a little extra something to my eyes. I have really sensitive eyes and it doesn’t irritate them at all. This khol is a great color, inexpensive, easy to use, and comes with a sharpener. The brown works really well with my blue eyes and light skin to emphasize my eyes in a believable way with or without mascara. They also have black and grey if brown isn’t your thing. (And another one that I totally forgot to include this when I was taking the picture of my favorites! Double Woops!)

Maybelline Color ShowNail Polish in Pink Embrace, Chiffon Chic, and Lust for Lilac  - I have really fallen in love with this line of polishes. They are inexpensive, have great color selection, long lasting, and the formula is great. Oh and I think the packing is super cute!
Nalgene - I always have one of these with me and between living in a super dry climate, pregnancy, and now nursing that is more true than ever! I love these bottles and they last and last. :)
Lavender Coach Purse - One of my really good friends got this for me as a gift a year ago and I still love it so much. I am all about purple and sparkle and this purse has both! LOVE it! I get excited every time I switch back to it.

My Birthday - 04/24/2014

Birthday time! I am definitely feeling very much older this year lol. I spent the day with the girls, Jeff, and my mom. Jeff woke me up with the girls and super sweet birthday cards. :) We spent most of the day at home then mom and I took the girls to Babies R Us for a little shopping and to get out of the house for a bit. We got home to a delicious dinner made by Jeff followed by a super yummy ice cream cake. It was truly a lovely birthday and I am so happy to get to have Alaeyna here in time to celebrate with us!

I seriously can’t get over how adorable Baby J is! She is such a happy, sweet, smart girl. :) I am the luckiest mamma!

Jocalyn was having fun testing out rocking chairs

"Snug as a Bug" Somehow I didn’t get many pictures of Alaeyna today. I took this one when I put her to bed. She is so precious :) She just melts me heart and brings a smile to my face.

Cake time!

Alaeyna is Home - 04/20/2014

We get to bring Alaeyna home today! It happens to be Easter which is pretty cool. My dad had to fly to work early this morning so he didn’t get to be there but we are really glad he was able to see her yesterday! I will do a separate Easter post since we spread it out over two days since we weren’t home yet Easter morning.

Jocalyn loves her new sister Alaeyna who she calls layna or aeya. :) She is very curious about her and wants to be with her almost constantly.

Here are a few pictures of our first couple of days home

I spent most of my labor at home and went into the hospital just under an hour before she arrived. My contractions were pretty close together but I really wanted my last bump pictures haha. I had Jeff take some last bump pictures for me. Between the nurses talking to me and starting another contraction they are pretty awful lol. I wanted to include them anyway though just because they make me laugh now.
It is actually pretty cool because we were assigned the same room that we had Jocalyn in!

We are so in love with her and couldn't be happier!!!

Here are some pictures from when we had Jocalyn and when my mom and dad got to meet her when she was around a month old.
