June Beauty Favorites

Mac Impassioned(Amplified Cream) - This little lippy is just such a perfect summer color! I can’t get enough of it!! It can look pretty intimidating in the tube but once you get it on it is super wearable and gorgeous. I get compliments  on this lip color every time I wear it. I also haven’t found another quite like this one, which makes me like it even more. (The pictures are not even close to doing it justice. I’m going to have to get some better pictures.)

Stila One Step CorrectPrimer - I have been using this little wonder for a few months now and I love it more and more every time I use it. I have never really been impressed by a primer before. Somehow this little magic wonder knows exactly which areas of my face need what and adjust accordingly. This not only evens out a lot of my redness, brightens, and handles any other discoloration but it really makes my foundation go on so smoothly and stay in place. It feels hydrating and nourishing without being oily or heavy feeling.  I even wear this sometimes if I’m not wearing foundation just to even out my skin. I LOVE IT!
Cover Girl LashExact Mascarain Very Black - I am thinking they are discontinuing this wonder product! It started getting hard to find in store so I have been stocking up whenever I come across it. It looks like I can still get it on Amazon though.. chalk up another win for Amazon!  I have been using this mascara for years and years and it never fails me. It is so much nicer than even high end mascaras and I don’t know how I’m going to find a replacement for it. The only mascara I’ve found that I even sort of like (drugstore and high end) is the Benefit They’re Real! Mascara. If you have any suggestions leave them in the comments below.
Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation Powder - This powder makes everything else I’ve used look like child’s play. I use it to set my foundation and it is amazing. It goes on so smoothly and you can build it up without getting any cakeyness whatsoever. My foundation shade is really difficult to match and this somehow balances most of my foundations perfectly so the color is on point. It adds just enough coverage and a beautiful finish to the skin. My other face products blend so smoothly over it. I can’t say enough good things about this little gem!
Johnson’s Baby CreamyOil Cocoa & Shea Butter - This lotion is inexpensive and it works wonders on my sensitive dry skin. I didn’t use this during my pregnancy with Alaeyna and even though I was 10 pounds smaller I got some pretty intense stretch marks. I really attribute that to the products I was using. I used so many other lotions for my belly this time around and none of them even compared. This and the mommy oil do wonders for my skin and I refuse to be without them ever again.
GlamGlow PowerMudDualCleanse Treatment - GlamGlow is my favorite when it comes to masks! As soon as this came out I had to get my hands on it.. or it on my face! Haha sorry too much? Glam Glow did not disappoint with this addition to their impressive line. I just can’t even say enough good things. My skin hasn’t felt so deeply cleaned and yet refreshed and hydrated at the same time since.. well I can’t remember when it has felt so wonderful. Sign up for their email list or follow me on Instagram for coupon codes. I usually try and post them when I get them or find one. These masks are worth every pretty penny. You can read all about it’s amazing wonderfulness on their site.
First Aid Beauty (FAB)Face Cleanser - I have very sensitive skin and have rosacea which is usually mild but can flare up in an instant. Not only does this face wash do its job well but I have noticed a huge difference in my redness and healing spots on my face. This keeps my skin clean and wonderfully calm at the same time. Bonus is that it removes eye makeup easily and thoroughly as well.
OPI I Just Can’t Cope-Acabana - So fun and summery without being the typical pink or coral color. It lasts quite a while and goes on beautifully. I love painting this color on my toes and so does Jocalyn. It seriously looks so cute on her little feet!
MAC Lipstick in Pure Heroin - Go check out the Lorde collection at MAC right now! It is only online and consists of a lipstick and eyeliner. I really like both products but especially the lip color. It is called Pure Heroin and I have only worn it once since it is summer right now but once fall rolls around I know that it is going to get a lot of use! If you want to see swatches and a comparison of Pure Heroin and Heroin check out my post here.

What were your favorites this month?

MAC Lorde Collection & Pure Heroine vs. Heronine

I simply love purple! So when I saw this collection coming out I was really excited. I am probably not going to wear it much right now in the summer but I am really looking forward to wearing it in the fall. Which speaking of I really don’t understand why MAC wouldn’t have waited to release this until the fall anyway.. but that is just me. Lorde’s signature look consists of black winged liner and a dark purple lip. The collection consists of Penultimate, a black felt tip liquid liner and a darker glossier version of their popular Heroine (Matte) lipstick called Pure Heroine (Amplified). I enjoy both products and think they were simple and well done. The liner is not super opaque and is a softer black which normally I wouldn’t like but it makes it a little easier to pull off on my fair skin. The liner has a nice fine tip for precise application, goes on easily, and most importantly doesn’t seem to bleed like other liquid and pen liners I have tried. The lipstick is beautiful and very comfortable to wear. It has a slight sheen/gloss to it with great color payoff. I already have several makeup looks in mind for this little beauty when the weather cools off. I have taken comparison pictures of Pure Heroine and Heroine for you to see the difference.

Just Keep Blending

I love makeup and I really enjoy watching beauty gurus on YouTube! My favorite person to watch is Jaclyn Hill. She is amazing, real, funny, and oh so on point. She is always talking about blending so you don’t have any harsh lines when you are applying your makeup. (If you apply makeup or at all interested in it you should definitely check out her channel!) I was watching one of her tutorials while Jocalyn was watching Finding Nemo and the following little picture popped into my head. I of course had to share!

April 2014 Favorites

This month I have been sticking to the simple things for the most part!
Note: I forgot to include the foundation and eye khol in the photo! Woops!
Bite Beauty Agave LipMask - I still can’t believe what a difference this makes for my lips. I cannot be without it! I have chronically dry peely lips and this is nothing short of magic in a tube. I put it on morning and night and have been for about 1-2 months now. You only need a tiny bit so this tube lasts for a very long time. I have only put a tiny dent in it so far. which is good because it is pricey.
First Aid Beauty FABUltra Repair Cream - Hands down the best moisturizer I’ve ever used. It helps sooth and hydrate my skin without leaving it greasy or clogging up my pores.  I’ve even used it on Jocalyn’s face and it helps heal her skin when she gets a rash or a dry patch. It is wonderful for helping to fade stretch marks and sooth stretched skin. I wish I would have thought to start using this on my belly before now.
First Aid Beauty FABFacial Radiance Polish - I use this once or twice a week or anytime my skin feels like it is starting to freak out. It leaves a good clean feeling that is difficult to describe. You can almost feel it working on any blemishes and deep down in your skin. It also leaves my face feeling nice and smooth without being shiny.
Glam Glow SumpermudClearing Treatment - This is the best face mask you will ever use.  It pulls all the nasty stuff out of your pores and oh so much more. Bonus is that you can actually see it working. Read all about it on their website here. I could seriously go on and on about this mask. I have gotten several people who aren't really into beauty products hooked on this stuff and for good reason… it is amazing. You can get a “samplesexy” trial of four of their masks or get a sample at your local Sephora. If I only could have one mask for the rest of my life this gem would be it.
TARTE MaracujaC-Brighter Eye Treatment - This eye cream is so nice for my sensitive skin and eyes. I can definitely see a difference It does exactly what it claims and I couldn’t be happier with it. “An intense, maracuja fruit- and vitamin C-infused, multitasking eye-treatment that visibly hydrates, firms, and brightens the delicate eye-area. “ - copied  from the Sephora What It Is section
Buxom Show Some SkinWeightless Skin Foundation - This foundation adds a light coverage and has pretty good staying power for a more minimal look than I normally go for. I also love that it has spf 30 in it to protect my skin. My skin is very sensitive and is especially so with sunscreen and this foundation actually leaves my skin feeling wonderful instead of gross and freaking out. (I totally forgot to include this when I was taking the picture of my favorites! Woops!)

L'Oreal Paris Voluminous SmolderingEyeliner in Brown - I like to line my upper water line with this especially when I’m in a hurry to give a little extra something to my eyes. I have really sensitive eyes and it doesn’t irritate them at all. This khol is a great color, inexpensive, easy to use, and comes with a sharpener. The brown works really well with my blue eyes and light skin to emphasize my eyes in a believable way with or without mascara. They also have black and grey if brown isn’t your thing. (And another one that I totally forgot to include this when I was taking the picture of my favorites! Double Woops!)

Maybelline Color ShowNail Polish in Pink Embrace, Chiffon Chic, and Lust for Lilac  - I have really fallen in love with this line of polishes. They are inexpensive, have great color selection, long lasting, and the formula is great. Oh and I think the packing is super cute!
Nalgene - I always have one of these with me and between living in a super dry climate, pregnancy, and now nursing that is more true than ever! I love these bottles and they last and last. :)
Lavender Coach Purse - One of my really good friends got this for me as a gift a year ago and I still love it so much. I am all about purple and sparkle and this purse has both! LOVE it! I get excited every time I switch back to it.

Shopping Sephora and Holiday Palettes

For those of you that don’t know me I have a huge passion for anything beauty related but especially makeup! One of my favorite beauty stores is Sephora a few weekends ago they had a 20% off coupon for your entire purchase! That is huge for them and doesn’t happen often. It has been a while since I have gone and walked through the store so on Friday Jocalyn and I made the drive over to check out all the new holiday stuff.. especially all of the amazing palettes that come out around this time of year for the holidays. I could have walked around the store swatching and exploring products for a lot longer but the time we did spend there was awesome! All of the staff were so friendly and enjoyable to talk with as usual.

For those of you that want my take on Sephora and how to get the most out of their store and process read on! I have only ever had one bad experience with the staff at Sephora and I think they try really hard to make sure their employees are knowledgeable and friendly. As with anywhere though there are always the few that can ruin it for everyone. If you have had a bad experience at one of their stores I encourage you to try again. It is worth your time to find a beauty consultant who you really like and who you feel gets you and your style. If you walk around for a little while multiple consultants should approach you and ask how you are doing and if they can help you. That makes it easy to ask a few questions and stick with the person you feel most comfortable with. Ask for their name and card and continue working with them whenever you are in the store for something. If you want to try working with someone new just repeat the process and keep your ideas and products fresh! I also love love love that you can test out pretty much any product in their store on your own or with the help of a consultant. A lot of the times things will look or smell different on than they do in the packaging and it is nice to compare and test out products when you are purchasing them… especially when you are at that kind of price point! Their returns process is easy and hassle free as well. If you get something home and try it out a few times and really don’t like it just take it back and find something that suites you better. I think that is something most people are hesitant to do but it will really pay off in the end for you to end up with something you love vs. something you just never wear and resent spending the money on. Sometimes it can be awkward and uncomfortable to take something back to the store but I haven’t ever had anyone make me feel uncomfortable about it in my years and years of shopping with Sephora… which is amazingly nice! Sephora has three different levels of rewards programs that are free to sign up for Beauty Insider, Beauty VIB, and Beauty VIB Rouge. Which program you are in is determined by how much you spend at Sephora in each calendar year. I am not normally a fan of rewards programs since they don’t normally do much for you but these are a different story. You get some really awesome perks! I will post a link where you can explore the details of each one at the bottom of the post.

Alrighty.. on the the fun stuff! Here are the beauties that really caught my eye while I was there! Some of these I had seen online and hadn’t really thought much of until I saw them in person. Another reason why I am a huge fan of taking the time to go into the store, check out the products, and get a few different opinions from the consultants there. These products are mostly palettes and the reason being is that tis the season for amazing palettes right now!! Plus the value and ease of working with them is just wonderful. Bonus.. if you travel much at all.. palettes can be your bestie and make your life so much easier. A note on most of these palettes.. a lot of them are limited editions so if you want one of them.. get it sooner rather than later because they will sell out.

All of the Too Faced Palettes come with at least three tutorials on how to create a daytime, nighttime, and fashion look or something similar to those looks. I always find this fun and helpful especially with the bolder colors. :)

Too Faced: A Few of My Favorite Things Palette (Just all around amazing and it is also a Sephora exclusive product!) Purchase Here

Too Faced: Joy to the Girls Palette (This is one of the ones I was so so about online but super amazed by in person!) Purchase Here
Too Faced - The Return Of Sexy Eye Shadow Palette (I was in love with this one the second I spied it!! The colors are so rich and stunning. The way the palette is laid out is beautiful and makes the looks you can create obvious without taking away all creativity and personality. I am beyond excited to try these out!!) Purchase Here

Too Faced - Boudoir Eyes Collection (There are very few of these collections from Too Faced that I don’t own and love. I think it is hard to go wrong with them and the value is great!) Purchase Here

Urban Decay: Vice Palette 2 (I actually purchased this directly from Urban Decay online the day it came out but every time I see it again I just love it all the more.) Purchase Here

Urban Decay - Revolution Lipstick in Venom (Bright Plum) ( I actually loved so many of these colors and it was so difficult to avoid the temptation to purchase them! I especially loved the color Venom for this chilly fall weather and richer eye looks. Check out UD's new lip liners too.. they coordinate and are so long lasting!) Purchase Here and Liners Here

Of course I have to mention the Urban Decay Naked Palettes even though I already own them. If you don’t own these do yourself a huge favor and at least go check them out. The formulas are amazing, the colors are beautiful, and the color payoff makes them a synch to work with for beginners and pros.
Naked Palette (Purchase Here

Naked 2 Palette (Purchase Here
Naked Basics Palette (Purchase Here

NARS: Guy Bourdin Holiday Collection Limited Edition One Night Stand Cheek Palette (I have always wanted to try out the NARS blushes and their colors are so beautiful. This palette gives a good range of colors which look full sized and the value is really great.) Purchase Here

Tarte: LipSurgence Collector's Set (If you have never tried these before.. DO!! The formula, color payoff, and lasting power is one of the best out there. I would love to purchase this set but for now I will just adore the three individual colors I own due to the price!) Purchase Here

Benefit Cosmetics - Rockateur Blush (Over the years I have had hit and miss luck with Benefit’s products but I have to say when they get it right they really get it right. This is one of those they nailed it products! This blush is amazing and not one of the consultants had a bad thing to say about it either. One of them (my favorite of the day) said she has been wearing it almost every day since it came out and couldn’t love it more. When you have access to all of the products she does that is saying something!)  Purchase Here

I found this product online while pulling links and pictures for this post. It is my ultimate wish list item for this year. I purchased a similar collection a few years ago and have loved using it ever since!
Urban Decay - 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Vault - This kit contains every single shade from their current 24/7 Eye Pencil lineup in 40 full-size pencils that include 13 never-before-seen shades.  (These eye liner pencils are pretty much the only ones I use and the colors and formula are just perfect every time. I am never disappointed when I reach for these and they are incredibly easy to use. They call this their ultimate collectors set and it is indeed just that but at $295 it is well out of my price range these days. Nonetheless I will continue to wish for it and love it!)  Purchase Here

I have another post coming soon about my favorite makeup brands and why I love them so so much so stay tuned for that! Although I’m sure you started to guess some of the players on my all-star team from the product trends in this post haha.
